St Georges Basin a scenic, sheltered
and secluded bay linked to the ocean by the natural beauty of Sussex Inlet.
This spectacular 12 Km long lagoon provides a perfect destination for those keen on
boating, fishing, sailing or enjoy one of many
picnic
spots along the tree covered shoreline. The Basin was named in 1828
and is thought to relate to to Cape St George named by Captain
Cook; previously called Bherwherree by the local Dhurga
Aborigine people. The villages of the area
St Georges Basin,
Sanctuary Point and Basin View, are linked by the historic Wool
Road initially cut out of the scrub by convicts under orders from Governor
Gipps to create a road from Braidwood to the ocean.

Georges Basin Country Club the entertainment hub of Jervis Bay. The Club is a great
